My two younger brothers and younger sister and I spent most of our childhood playing in the Digging Place, building forts, playing Run Around The Corner and other imaginary games.  As children we all had wild imaginations.  On weekends, our family spent many happy hours hiking in the wilderness around Yakima, Washington where we grew up.

After college in Kansas I returned to Washington State and married my Knight In Shining Armor that stands on the sidelines and cheers my imagination.  For six years we lived the pioneer life in a log cabin on twenty acres of forest.  After our three children were born we moved and now share five acres of trees and blackberries with the deer, squirrels, and other wildlife.

My imagination wakes me in the early mornings with a rearranged version of these and many other experiences.  Sometimes it is just a romp through like stepping stones across a river.  Other times it is like Little Red Riding Hood meandering through the forest picking wildflowers.  I can't predict it or regulate it.  And so I write, sometimes for children, sometimes for women, depending on where my imagination takes me at the moment.  So here's to stories!  To Books! Together!
